Lemon Mojito Mocktail

Ingredients

  • Lemon Slices and Mint Sprigs: Perfect for garnishing and adding visual appeal
  • 2 Lemons: Freshly squeezed for optimal flavor
  • 10-12 Fresh Mint Leaves: For that signature cooling effect
  • 2 Tablespoons Sugar: Adjust based on your sweetness preference
  • 2 Cups Sparkling Water or Soda: Adds the bubbly fizz that makes this drink irresistible
  • Ice Cubes: Keeps the mocktail crisp and refreshing

Instructions

  • Begin by cutting the lemons in half. Squeeze the juice into a small bowl, making sure to remove any seeds. Set the juice aside for later.
  • In a cocktail shaker or a tall glass, combine the mint leaves and sugar. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently crush the mint leaves. This step releases the mint’s essential oils and combines it with the sugar, enhancing the drink’s flavor.
  • Pour the freshly squeezed lemon juice into the shaker or glass with the mint and sugar mixture. Stir well to dissolve the sugar and ensure the flavors are evenly distributed.
  • Fill two serving glasses with ice cubes. Pour the mint and lemon mixture over the ice in each glass.
  • Top each glass with sparkling water or soda, filling it to the brim. Stir gently to combine the ingredients, taking care not to lose the fizz.
  • Add a lemon slice and a sprig of mint to each glass for a polished, restaurant-quality look. Serve immediately and enjoy the refreshing burst of flavor!

Notes

  1. Use Fresh Ingredients: The flavor of fresh lemon juice and mint leaves is unmatched. Avoid bottled lemon juice or dried mint for this recipe.
  2. Chill Everything: Ensure your soda, glass, and even your ingredients are cold. It keeps the drink refreshing and fizzy.
  3. Don’t Over-Muddle: Crushing mint too much can release bitter flavors. A gentle press is all you need.
  4. Sweeten to Taste: Adjust the amount of simple syrup based on your preference. For a tarter drink, reduce the syrup.
  5. Add Fizz at the Last Minute: This keeps your mocktail bubbly and fresh for longer.
